I am so happy to finally be a proud Kindle DX owner. I have been waiting to purchase a Kindle since they came out, but wanted to give Amazon time to work out any bugs before forking out the $400 for one. Every penny spent has been worth it, and I can see myself sticking with this product and any future Kindles for years and years to come.

I have read all of the less than stellar reviews here, and can honestly disagree with them- as my experience has been completely opposite due to educating myself about the Kindle BEFORE purchasing.
This purchase has been a very serious one for me. I have had the Kindle for PC on my computer for a couple of years now, and the phone app for Android for about 6 months (I actually chose my phone based on wanting the app!). I thought long and hard, and learned my way around Kindle way before my actual purchase.
I also read and learned the manual through and through to learn all of my Kindle's features. I am happy to say that the Kindle DX is even better with way more features than the Kindle for PC and the Android app- so I got even more than I hoped for once I opened the box :)
The Kindle is very easy to use and organize. All it takes is reading the manual or surfing all the helpful info on this site before jumping to conclusions about what it can or cannot do. I have noticed that a lot of the lower number reviews have been updated with newer info after the reviewer learned their way around the machine, so that is why I say it is so important to learn the product before saying anything bad about it.

And as far as the people who say it is "clunky", etc.... the specifications are outlined clearly here on Amazon- it's about the size of a magazine- no surprises- it's exactly what is posted.
Also, once you are a Kindle owner, you realize that there are a lot of "perks" that go along with it. The free books are fabulous! I originally thought that it was just classics available- what a treat to find all the free modern reads offered to Kindle owners. Lots of reading material is offered way in advance to Kindle owners to review for free before it actually hits the market- how great is that? I love it!
I could go on and on forever about why I think Amazon's Kindle is far better than any of the other ereaders out there- just the free Whispernet is incredible! Amazon has the biggest media selections out there, and the BEST book prices (I have compared them all for a couple of years now- and Amazon ALWAYS averages out better than anyone else). The experimental browser is just great- I find it is very quick loading and easy to navigate. It's almost like a little laptop :) And call me a nerd, but I am hooked on Wikipedia- it and Amazon have always been my favorite sites!
